Overwatch Player Mocks Meta by Maining Bastion - PVP Live - Overwatch Culture
PVP Live: It's a common refrain in Overwatch: people should stick to the meta. Whether that meta is triple tank, '2 tanks, 2 healers, and 2 DPS', or even certain characters, folks on your team tend to push back when you want to do something outside the norm. Youtuber CheckingTheFail wanted to break the mold and prove that the meta doesn't necessarily matter so long as your team is willing to make things work. He decided to make Bastion work as his main, despite Bastion being perhaps the most unpopular hero in competitive. While he only does his placement matches in the video, he performs impressively, and even manages to win over his teammates that were asking him to switch. While winning placement matches doesn't prove that the meta doesn't matter, it does prove that Overwatch is flexible enough to make any composition work - so long as people keep an open mind.
