Nigerian Troops Eliminate 94 Terrorists, Police Recover Corpses, and Arrest Suspects

Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters in Abuja reported that troops conducted operations across the northern part of the country between January 17 and 25, resulting in the elimination of 94 terrorists. Additionally, 171 terrorists were arrested in the North, along with 43 suspected oil thieves. The troops also recovered N485 million worth of crude oil in the South-South. Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed these details during a briefing in Abuja, highlighting the successful activities of the troops during the specified period. In the South-South operations, troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 16 dugout pits, 51 boats, 49 storage tanks, and three vehicles. The Nigerian Police Force reported the recovery of ten corpses in various locations in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. In response to recent comments by Rev. Timothy Daluk, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Mangu LGA, the Police Chairman stated that he would not withdraw his allegations against the military or honour any invitation by the military. The CAN Chairman, Rev. Daluk, had accused the Nigerian military of supervising the killings of Christians and the destruction of properties in Mangu LGA. In a separate security update, the Nigerian Police Force in Plateau State arrested eight suspects in connection with the Christmas Eve attacks. This development was confirmed by the police public relations officer during a press briefing held to parade the suspects.
