Jaw Dropping Good! A Look Inside One of the Best Audiophile Systems I've Heard
I'm always chasing sonic perfection...scouring the globe for the ultimate audiophile experience. This video features a system that came with rave reviews by others and it certainly didn't disappoint. In fact, on many audiophile metrics, it could be among the best I've heard. Words can't do justice to this audiophile system and neither will the audio clips (in a video to come). You have to hear it yourself to experience the uncanny realism and dynamics possible. However, this walkthru and report will give you a thorough description of the great gear and synergy created in this room. It's a perfect example of when expertise is combined with great gear. Props to the owner...as well as people like Rich Brown at HiFi One and JR with WAM Engineering for helping dial this system in so well. Here is a detailed gear list for those interested. Loudspeaker Avantgarde Trio G3 with two pairs of Dual Spacehorns run in passive mode with optional "NatureCap" crossover. Note, the internal Avantgarde Itron amps are installed but are not used. Subwoofer A pair of REL Model 25 Amplification: Berning Hi Fi One Edition SET – with silver wire inductors by Ypsilon of Greece. Line stage EM/IA silver version autoformer passive unit. Turntable Continuum Audio Labs Caliburn turntable with matching Castellon Stand with MinusK suspension. Tone arms Two Cobra tone arms. Dohmann Audio Helix RSV clamp custom made for use with Cobra arm. Cartridges Cartridges: Both stereo: Audio Technica AT MC 2022 60th anniversary edition, with integral one piece diamond cantilever/stylus assembly. Second cartridge is Analog Relax EX1000. Phono preamp VAC Statement. Only the MM inputs are in use with external step up transformers replacing the internal VAC step ups. The step ups used into MM input of the VAC are EM/IA MC14, medium impedance, silver wire windings. Two are used, one for each cartridge. Isolation MinusK stands isolate the amplifiers. Avaya Rev-O-Pods are used under all components. Cabling Revelation Audio Labs for all line level cables in the system. Jorma Prime wires the Spacehorns. EnKlein XerXes is the main Trio G3 speaker cable. AC and Grounding The room is fed by a wall mounted Equi=tech KVA10 balanced power transformer with isolated ground 100 amps available to the room.
