Women in the Works: A Master's Recital

Women in the Works: A Master's Recital Houston Hall, Boston Conservatory Emily Roberts, soprano Jean Anderson, piano This is the full version of my Master's Recital presented on April 23, 2022. As I was considering repertoire for this recital, I began to notice a common thread- women. This was no surprise to me seeing as learning more about the various roles and the influence of women in the Western Classical Music narrative is something that has been driving me since I began my studies. This recital features women as poets in disguise, composers, storytellers, muses, and more. DISCLAIMER: some words were made up and forgotten because I am human- this performance is flawed but I am still proud nonetheless :) Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Suleika I Suleika II Pauline Viardot (1821-1910) C'era una volta Non vi maravigliate Povera me!
