After we escape the prison, Kenson tells me what her team was doing out in the system in the first place. She says that the Reapers will arrive in this system, and then use the system's Mass Relay to travel to the rest of the galaxy. Kenson and her team plan to destroy the Relay, however the explosion would destroy the entire system...
