Vocabulary of psychology: Impact Bias | Survey on breakups | Misconceptions - English lesson 6

One of the most insidious annoying features of the mind is that we don't realize that if bad things happen, we're just not going to be that much affected by them very soon. This feature is called “The impact bias”, and this is the idea that we tend to overestimate the emotional impact of things in two ways, – both in terms of their intensity and in terms of their duration. You’ll see the effects of this feature in the results of a survey on breakups. ► Interested in studying English with me?
