Code:Manta - Phonk

BUY: http://www.beatport.com/release/code-manta-ep/926996 John-Paul Denton is the man behind Code:Manta and rising like a phoenix from the depths of a breakbeat, Code:Manta was formed as an outlet for all things bass. Starting with his own take on Moombahton, he has forged the path forward for the Code:Manta sound. Like robots getting jammed in mid-conversion, and funk played by crash test dummies, Code:Manta's unique style screeches through speakers with turbo rusted crunch. His debut EP kicks off strong, with the self-titled track "Code:Manta", firmly securing his stamp on this new direction, and showing off his programming skills with a jaunty, jerky, pulsating synth stab rhythm, spoken word vocals, and throbbing bottom end. Dangerous mixes a live bass driven rhythm with MC vocals and a hefty nod back to the breakbeats of yesteryear, whilst still keeping the energy high. To close this debut release, Phonk starts off with a eerie vibe before dropping into some crazy searing synths, cut up with sounds from all and sundry, from disco to hip hop.
