Christmas season begins in Holy Land: Catholic mass marks start of Christmas in Bethlehem

A Catholic mass marking the start of the Christmas season has been held at the Church of the Nativity in the town of Bethlehem in the West Bank. A large holiday tree was placed by the church in the central Manger Square. Bethlehem is believed to be the birthplace of Jesus, and is of great importance to Christians around the world.
