Arranged marriages are still a reality for many women and girls in modern-day China with women who remain single in their late 20s and 30s being labelled 'Sheng Nu' a derogatory term with is translated as "leftover women" or 'leftover ladies' . Many parents not wishing to see their daughters become labelled in such a way arrange marriages behind their children's backs - as in the situation described in this video.
