Our old top-secret method
If it is a very clean snow (e.g. ski race over the tree line in mountains) or short distance, we applied fluorocarbon powder directly on fresh scraped ski base. Thus, for top level races our top level skier Antonina Ordina glided on only two variants of the ski running surface preparation: fresh scraped or fresh scraped with fluorocarbon powder on. Regular wax-irons has too large sole, and the large sole has very bad contact with the ski running surface. Thus, it is hard to melt the fluorocarbon (FC) powder on a single run, one needs to repeating the procedure again and again, and because of these repetitions never get the right quality. For the preparation with FC powder you have to get a small sole iron, then you can melt the powder in a single pass with perfect quality. Please, compare our way to apply FC powder with some examples below: https://youtu.be/Len-aPl-5j8 https://youtu.be/ZGT3P-HxYGQ https://youtu.be/14DY-2JZKbY https://youtu.be/34ccIcA5RD8
