Hi folks, this was my second day in Zaragoza before i embarked for another trip to another country. That day was brilliantly sunny compared to the day before which was dull and rainy. So, lets take another virtual walking shall we..hope you will enjoy it The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Zaragoza, Aragon. The Basilica venerates Blessed Virgin Mary, under her title Our Lady of the Pillar praised as "Mother of the Hispanic Peoples" by Pope John Paul II A jewel of Baroque art. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside there is the Santa Capilla, work of Ventura Rodríguez where an image of the Virgen del Pilar can be found. Also of interest is the high altarpiece made out of alabaster, and the Renaissance choir-stall. The basilica was declared a National Monument. Along with the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the Basílica del Pilar is one of the most important spiritual destinations in Spain. It is also a first-rate art centre containing a collection of valuable objects from different periods.
