Chapter 5: The Northern Star - Part One With the Vault located, Alyx and Russel hatches a plan to bring it down by sabotaging the numerous substations feeding it power. The first one of these is at the top of a long-abandoned hotel called The Northern Star, whose guests include numerous Xen creatures who don't take kindly to Alyx's intrusion. It is briefly seen scuttling across the elevator door at 0:19 - The "pustules" first encountered at 7:17 can be triggered by walking close to them, then backing up to a safe distance before they explode. Alternatively, shooting them will also cause them to swell; enough gunshots will trigger an explosion Trivia: - The piano at 1:22 fully works, and players can play entire songs with the appropriate keys - "Flight of the Bumblebee", as mentioned by Russel at 1:24, is an actual orchestral interlude - The outside of the hotel can be glimpsed at 16:00 as the Combine walls open up. In the last chapter, "Superweapon", the Combine walls were closed and it wasn't possible to look down onto this area - Odd sounds can be heard emitting from the Combine prisoner pods at 19:19. Later on in the chapter, it is revealed that Vortigaunts are trapped inside these pods and that the Combine are using the pods to "extract" the vorts' energy for their own uses
