2016 KONE Monospace MRL Traction Elevators @ Niitty Shopping Center, Niittykumpu, Espoo, Finland

Filmed on 25.05.2020. These are the two elevators at the Niitty Shopping center, connected to Niittykumpu / Ängskulla metro station, which precedes the Matinkylä / Mattby metro station, the current terminus of the Helsinki metro and the Länsimetro / Västmetron / Western metro extension into Espoo/Esbo, Finland in the capital Region of Finland. It is connected to the Niittyhuippu residential tower, standing at 26 floors and 84 meters tall, one of the tallest buildings in Finland. The first part of the extension from Ruoholahti/Gräsviken to Matinkylä/Mattby finally opened on 17th November 2017, after several delays, having been under construction since 2009. The other entrance to Matinkylä/Mattby metro station will be finished in Autumn 2020, which coincides with developments around it, among others a new hotel, the Hotel Matts. The second part of the western metro extension from Matinkylä / Mattby to Kivenlahti / Stensvik is under construction and scheduled to be opened in 2023. After that extension, the whole Southern Espoo will be connected to local rail-based transportation. All the elevators for the new metro extension were made by KONE, and they all speak Finnish, Swedish and English.
