Album:Ted Nugent Released:Sept'75 Recorded:'75 Studio:The Sound Pit Atlanta, Georgia Genre:Hard Rock Heavy Metal Label:Epic Producer:Tom Werman/Lew Futterman MOTOR CITY MADHOUSE MADMAN AKA THE NUGE, UNCLE TED, TERRIBLE TED OR JUST SIMPLY TED NUGENT(Theodore Anthony Nugent) born and raised in Detroit Redford Michigan on Dec 13 '48.THE MOST POLITICAL, PATRIOTIC SON OF A B!@#$ ROCKSTAR GUITARIST WHO WALKED ON THE FACE OF THE PLANTET, OR AT LEAST THE LAND OF THE USA.Nugent was born the third of four siblings and the son of Marion Dorothy and Warren Henry Nugent.As a teenager, Nugent attended St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and for a short time, William Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois.Nugent grew up in a military family his father was a career army sergeant.Nugent himself never served in the military.Ted mostly a sober rockstar after learning the hard way from his father who punished him as a kid when he came home a little tipsy and maybe stink'n a little bit of something.A FUNKY MOTOWN BLOOD BROTHER MOTOR CITY MADMAN like himself, did not need to take drugs to get high or drink to get drunk to perform as ENERGETIC like he did on stage!Ted Nugent started his adventure in sometime in '65 where he got famous with a psychedelic blues rock group called "The Amboy Dukes."The Amboy Dukes' second single was "Journey to the Center of the Mind", which featured lyrics written by the Dukes' second guitarist Steve Farmer from the album of the same title whose cover features a diverse array of drug use.Nugent was an anti-drug rockstar has always claimed that he had no idea that this song was about drug use.Nugent joined other musicians in a tribute to King by having a folk, rock and blues jam session.Joni Mitchell played first, followed by Buddy Guy, Cactus, and Jimi Hendrix. Other musicians who participated were BB King and Al Kooper.Ted settled down on a ranch in Michigan in '73, Nugent signed a record deal with Frank Zappa's DiscReet Records label and recorded Call of the Wild.The following year, Tooth Fang & Claw.Changed to Ted Nugent & the Amboy Dukes.Ted Nugent took some time off an spent time hunting, fishing in the spirt of the wilderness as he liked to do before making his next move in his guitar playing career.Ted dropped the Amboy Dukes band name for good in '75, and signed to Epic Records. Derek St. Holmes(guitar, vocals), Rob Grange(bass)and Clifford Davies(drums)were the primary additional band members for his albums:Ted Nugent('75 Ted Nugent said "If anyone wanted to know what rock 'n roll was all about, that's the only album they'd need".), Free-for-All ('76)and Cat Scratch Fever('77).This band lineup toured extensively, releasing live album Double Live Gonzo!('78), until its breakup in '78 when St. Holmes and Grange departed to join his own solo career with "Aerosmith's" guitarist Brad Whitford.St. Holmes was replaced by Charlie Huhn and Grange by Dave Kiswiney.Davies left around '82 after recording Weekend Warriors('78), State of Shock('79), Scream Dream('80)and Intensities in 10 Cities('81).The "Intensities in 10 Cities" album includes the controversial song "Jailbait."Probably about Ted's soft spot for young women of barely of age.On July 8, '79, Ted was on the rock radio program King Biscuit Flower Hour.This was the original broadcast of Ted's performance of Live at Hammersmith '79 which had been recorded during the 2nd set of a night at London's Hammersmith Odeon in '79.Ted filling up stadiums by the late '70's such as the "Day On The Green Monsters Of Rock" festival in '79 at the Oakland Coliseum presented by Bill Graham.Bands such as Aerosmith, ACDC, Ted Nugent, Boston, Sammy Hagar, Rush, Thin Lizzy, Nazareth, UFO Foreigner, and countless others played at a "Day On The Green" in '79.Ted Nugent extremely influenced by Motown funky music and blues rock'n roll from James Brown, Freddie King, BB King, Chuck Berry, Bo-Diddley, Stevie Wonder and many others which inspired him to pick up a Gibson Byrdland and plug it into a Fender Deluxe Stack or a Marshall Stack.Derek St. Holmes can be seen using a Gibson Les Paul SG Custom, Gibson Les Paul Custom, Standards, Gibson Les Paul jr. and even a Fender Stratocaster at times plugged into Marshall's."You Make Me Feel Right At Home" is a slow jazzy track on the album in the key of E with some dominant chords, major triads and a key change to B7 modes in the outro.I played this one by ear with clean jazz tones and played the vocal melody at times.
