Takamine GX18CE-NS Taka-mini review
A review of one of the more recent G-series offerings from Takamine. Designed as a small-bodied travel guitar, the Taka-mini is a serious contender in this arena and is also a great 'fun guitar' to have around for casual, 'always to hand' use. Solid spruce top with Sapele laminate back and sides result in decent tone and a rugged instrument capable of taking the knocks and bumps of travel. Despite the relatively small body size, this guitar has a perfectly acceptable plugged in tone via the under saddle piezo pickup and TP-4T preamp. 00:00 Intro 01:18 Guitar Specifications 04:05 Dimensions 05:40 Hardware and accessories 07:39 Acoustic tone 11:43 With capo 14:11 Plugged-in tone 17:32 Mic and direct sounds blended 18:00 Conclusion Full review of the TP-4T preamp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuodqZIEa0c The GX18CE-NS on Takamine's website: http://www.takamine.com/GX18CENS Comparison between this guitar and Taylor's GS Mini: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFWCeTl6EHI The guitar shown is a dealer-exclusive which was specially commissioned for the 50th anniversary of Singapore's independence - hence the crest on the pick guard. It is otherwise identical to the standard model. This guitar was purchased by GLB Productions - this review was carried out independently and was not commissioned by Takamine Guitars.
