Ghost Recon Wildlands: The spoils of the Epic and Steam War?

So I recently got Ghost Recon Wildlands at a steep discount. I believe that this sale was done in response to Epic getting games exclusively to their platform. I HAVE NO PROOF OF THIS! it is just a theory. I see this as a net benefit for gamers but I am concerned for publishers and how this seeming competition will effect them.
