Nolan's Song - SIDS Healing Anthem for Parents and Families, S.I.D.S., Sudden Death Infant Syndrome

Written and originally performed by Jim Gibson and his band for the family of Nolan at Nolan's SIDS benefit in San Jose, CA Our son, Jake Douglas (pictured in video), passed away at the age of 5 1/2 months in 1995...We went to a S.I.D.S. (sudden infant death syndrome) benefit the year of his passing for another baby named Nolan that had recently passed away from S.I.D.S. It was at this benefit, we heard Jim Gibson and his band play this song for Nolan. After hearing the song, we went up and spoke with Jim. He was a friend of Nolan's family and had written the song upon Nolan's passing. We thanked him for such a beautiful song about such a painful event...He sent us a copy of the song he wrote and performed at the benefit, which is the uploaded song. On the tape, he wrote: Doug and Jean, I hope this song can help in your healing Love, Jim Gibson Please pass this along to anyone you know that has been affected by this terrible tragedy in the hopes it can help with the grief and to start the healing! Nolan's Song (lyrics): Nolan was here tonight But I turned my head and he was gone Into the pale blue light Lord he wasn't here for very long Why'd you go When I thought I'd found my new best friend Why'd you go I thought that I'd found my new best friend Somehow it don't seem right Little boy with so much life ahead Don't have the strength to fight So I'm gonna turn to God instead Hear me Lord Give me strength to help me understand Hear me Lord Give me grace to help me understand Is there nothing I can do but cry I feel so tired of asking why So I said a prayer tonight Asked the Lord if I could see his face Out of the pale blue light I could feel him in a better place Dry your tears We're together, he's just up ahead Dry your tears We're together, he's just up ahead Is there nothing I can do but cry I feel so tired of asking why So I said a prayer tonight Asked the Lord if I could see his face Out of the pale blue light I can feel him in a better place Dry your tears We're together, he's just up ahead Dry your tears We're together, Nolan's up ahead *Posted as a tribute to our son, Jake Douglas
