Charlyn Ho counsels clients on legal issues related to technology and privacy, including those affecting e-commerce sites, mobile devices and applications, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR) and augmented reality (AR) platforms, cloud services, enterprise software, cryptocurrency platforms and Internet of Things devices. Charlyn provides strategic advice and counseling to all types of technology companies throughout their lifecycle, from startup to established enterprises. Charlyn’s experience includes: Counseling on and supporting product launches Performing IP and data privacy analysis and due diligence for M&A transactions Supporting enterprise customers in purchasing commercial off-the-shelf and custom software and cloud solutions Assisting startups and entrepreneurs in commercializing their products Helping blockchain clients conduct token sales and develop various technology offerings including self-sovereign identity platforms Drafting collaboration, development, distribution, license and service agreements Counseling clients on privacy and data security compliance obligations, including building programs to comply with data privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA and assisting with preparing for and responding to data security incidents. Charlyn was a lead business manager for shipbuilding contracts in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. In her role, she was responsible for developing, negotiating and implementing budgets and contracts to refuel nuclear powered aircraft carriers and submarines, which required collaboration with senior level policymakers and technical experts. Charlyn maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes assisting senior citizens in drafting wills and estate planning documents and participating in immigration legal clinics in Washington, D.C. Charlyn currently provides pro bono representation to an international nonprofit organization that seeks to leverage a blockchain-based biometric identity technology to help global refugees and displaced persons establish legal status.
