[Doom 2] Jenesis Map 28: Baphomet's Keep (UV-Max 9:40)

This is my first speed-run attempt at an Icon of Sin (Doom 2 boss) type map (which is special because this is map 28). Usually that encounter is pretty easy (even though I had a close encounter in this run) - the rest of the map before that, not quite. Nice atmospheric map but I experienced a few graphical glitches. Spot them if you can. :) The whole bestiary is present here, apart from the spider mastermind, and, I think, the puny zombie. This is hell after all. :) It wasn't always easy to decide which monsters I should skip before running to the next area (infighting can be quite a large factor in this map). Eventually I decided that the cacos at the start must go, since I missed one or two quite often in the end. It turned out to be a wise decision and my final time was a lot quicker. It can probably be pushed by about 20 seconds using the same approach I think - this run is a bit messy. Spawning on top of the baron of hell at 3:27 was pretty lucky - I think it happens in less than one in five times, if I should guess. This was also probably my unluckiest map of all time. If I didn't miss a monster or two on otherwise perfect runs (a few times), I managed to die somehow at the end (that happened six times - yes even though I still think the ending is easy, but it doesn't help if you arrive there with 50 health). So this took me a lot longer than I planned. I also despised that room with the stupid narrow ledge. It's just a pet peeve of mine. Falling down a ledge is just such a sucky reason to cancel a speed run attempt, especially at 6 minutes in. I'd much rather prefer to go out in flames! Hope you enjoy the run, thanks for watching! ___ This demo was recorded using the PrBoom Plus port (v. 2.5.1.2), captured on video using Screenflick v. 2.2.25 and edited using iMovie '11 v. 9.0.4. JENESIS is, at the time of writing, downloadable at this URL: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=16640 For optimal performance, and if you use the PrBoom+ port, run it with jenefix.wad (like this on the terminal: prboom-plus.exe -file /path/to/wad/jenesis.wad /path/to/wad/jenefix.wad), which can currently be downloaded here: http://jimmy.the-powerhouse.net/WAD/jenefix.wad (./PrBoom-Plus on Unix-style systems including OS X) If any links are down, follow or post on this Doomworld thread: http://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-speed-demos/54395-jenesis-demos-boom-complevel-9/ Kotzugi https://www.youtube.com/user/kotzugi http://doomedsda.us/player386lmps.html 1 September 2014
