3D Print: Team Fortress 2 Sentry Gun
An Engineer's best friend! I've modeled the Team Fortress 2 sentry gun and it's capable of being upgraded from level 1, through to level 3. But here's the really exciting news. You can order your own copy! I've opened a Shapeways shop where you'll be able to purchase this model (link below). UPDATE: Valve's partnership program with shapeways means this can now be sold once more. Head to my Shapeways shop linked below This is more of an instructional video on how to assemble the model as some assembly is required. The model does not come painted, but painting it is half the fun and I would love to see your versions of the gun. This model is intended as a desktop toy/model and not as a toy for children. 3D modelling software for project: Luxology Modo / Solidworks Video editing software: After Effects Music: - More Guns - TF2 Soundtrack - Rocket Jump Waltz cover by MetalFortress14 - Robots - TF2 Soundtrack Links: - My website: http://www.psychobob.co.uk/2013/04/3d-print-tf2-sentry.html - My shapeways shop: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/PsychobobArts ***UPDATE (Dec 2014)*** Shapeways have changed their price structure increasing the level 2 parts prices quite dramatically. I added a sprue to bring down the cost to a more reasonable price, but you will need to cut this away when the part arrives. For more information see the post on my website regarding this: http://www.psychobob.co.uk/2014/12/3d-print-tf2-sentry-updated.html ****************************** FAQ: - Why does it cost so much? Unfortunately, that's because of the flat fee Shapeways charges per printed item. Shapeways uses an industrial type SLS printer, which I'm sure are not cheap to run. So that cost of printing is still higher than most of us like. Unlike mass produced items where costs can be absorbed by using something like injection moulding and the costs come down when having a run of thousands, 3D printing has to be done individually making the cost higher :( This is something most people don't understand when comparing 3D printing to an off the shelf type product. It sucks, I know! - The level 3 leg base has extra legs at the back. Your's doesn't! Indeed! Unfortunately at a scale like this, making the base transformable would have made it very delicate. I chose to go for strength/durability over accuracy on the base in this particular case.
