When you enable 'Smart Lock' it automatically locks your Mac when you are away and unlocks it once you are back using a well thought out heuristic. Also, Guided Access is added so that you can allow only specific areas of the screen to be accessible, for example you can allow access to a single app on your Mac or allow access to a specific part of an app on your Mac. This lock is a transparent lock. That means when you lock using Unlock, nothing changes on your screen but no one can use a keyboard or a mouse to operate your Mac.
