WIl Darcangelo and the Tribe, feat. Barny Lanman - "Do They Miss Me at Home"

This is the Tribe's tribute to our soldiers away from home these holidays and beyond. Thanks to Peter Keto on camera and editing. Read below to find out why this song is so special to us. "Do They Miss Me At Home?" Words by Caroline Atherton Mason (Fitchburg, Ma), 1844 Music by Sidney Martin Grannis, 1852 October 2012 recording by Wil Darcangelo & the Tribe, feat. Barny Lanman Vocals: Barny Lanman Lavender Bell Wil Darcangelo Sarah LeBlanc Instruments: Guitar, Barny Lanman Ashiko, Thomas Carvin Djembe, Wil Darcangelo Tambourine, Sophia Chaput Whistling, Barny Lanman & Wil Darcangelo Hand Claps, the Tribe "Do They Miss Me at Home" was one of the most popular songs of the mid-19th century. It's sung from the perspective of someone who is far away from home and wonders if their absence is felt, if there's a chord in the music that's missed when their voice is away. 150 years ago, this song had already been popular for more than a decade when the Civil War began. And it was sung by both northern and southern soldiers during the long conflict. Most meaningful for the Tribe, is the fact that the song's lyrics were written by a woman from right here in Fitchburg, Massachusetts; poet Caroline Atherton Mason. We are very proud of that little connection to American history. The Tribe is normally a rock band. But we loved this little folk song so much, and we want to support our local troops as much as we are able, so we've slipped out of our regular mold to create our own version of this nostalgic piece. We are accepting donations for the campaign through our website www.TribeKids.net. The care package campaign begins now, but will be an ongoing, year round project. For our soldiers don't just wonder if they're missed at home during the holidays. They need to know that they are missed every minute of every day they are away. They need to know that we are proud of them and grateful for the sacrifice that they and their families make in the pursuit of safety and peace on our planet. If you would like to donate funds or care package items please visit our website or contact me directly at wildarcangelo@gmail.com. Happy holidays.
