The Nights - Avicii - Ukulele Cover
This is my ukulele cover of the song "The Nights" by Avicii. In the post-pandemic world, we have been through losses that are unimaginable, and seen institutions crumbling. The war in Ukraine has made us speechless with our helplessness at seeing so many people lose their lives so unkindly! To top it off, the mass shootings at various schools in America has shattered the hearts of our collective humanity, toppling us into a crazy world that doesn't seem to make sense anymore with its need for cruelty and violence. There is a need to review our ways, otherwise the world, as we have known it, with all its beautiful dichotomies, will stop healing, and wither and die. There is a need to see that we are, after all, transient creatures, and will have to leave this place some day, so why not leave it a better one than we found it? This song is my humble hope to see the world become a kinder place, a world that is healed, a world that works for upliftment of each other for generations to come. I hope we all have the courage to live, and live with kindness in our hearts. We need more of that. I wish you all so much love and strength and courage to be kind. Lyrics- Once upon a younger year When all our shadows disappeared The animals inside came out to play Went face to face with all our fears Learned our lessons through the tears Made memories we knew would never fade One day, my father, he told me "Son, don't let it slip away" He took me in his arms, I heard him say "When you get older Your wild heart will live for younger days Think of me if ever you're afraid" He said, "One day, you'll leave this world behind So live a life you will remember" My father told me when I was just a child "These are the nights that never die" My father told me "When thunderclouds start pouring down Light a fire they can't put out Carve your name into those shining stars" He said, "Go venture far beyond the shores Don't forsake this life of yours I'll guide you home no matter where you are" One day, my father, he told me "Son, don't let it slip away" When I was just a kid, I heard him say "When you get older Your wild heart will live for younger days Think of me if ever you're afraid" He said, "One day, you'll leave this world behind So live a life you will remember" My father told me when I was just a child "These are the nights that never die" My father told me "These are the nights that never die" My father told me My father told me
