"Prelude" by Ney Rosauro

In "Prelude," the full range of the vibraphone is used in tandem with quartal lines to create a beautifully resonant piece. The cascading sections are interspersed with jazzy fills, and the whole solo has a melancholy feeling. The biggest challenge is the large interval between the hands, as playing with the hands so far apart means you need to be more precise with your body position and fully accurate with your mallets. There are some quarter note triplet lines to be aware of, but the lack of polyrhythm makes this a very accessible piece. "Prelude" is a companion to Ney Rosauros' "Blues". Once again, I tried to see how engaging a video I could make with only one take. I recorded my base track (audio and video), and used Videopad to spice things up. I also included some stock beach footage as I felt it matched the solemn vibe of the piece. Beach footage by freestockfootagearchive.com Thank You For Watching!
