Elite: Dangerous Beta 1.03 - LP 98-132 Test Run in Cobra Mk.3 (PC) 1080P HD
I decided my combat skills needed improving so ditched the Lakon Type-6 Transporter and got myself another Cobra Mk.3. This time with a slightly different weapons load-out, 2x Class 3 Beam Laser (G) and 2x Class 2 Cannon, along with the same equipment (heat sink launcher and point defence turret) and same military grade composite bulkheads as before, but no decorative docking computer. I decide to try another anarchy system to get some combat training, so set course for the LP 98-132 system. This time I actually carried a small amount of cargo so it wouldn't be a complete waste of time I would have extra credits to pay for damage I would doubtless take... After all that preparation, I need not have worried. Not a single interdiction, not even a lone Eagle fighter! In fact since recording this video I have done 2 more trips to LP 98-132 and STILL haven't encountered a single enemy ship! I know that you need to investigate the unknown signal sources within anarchy systems to bring the enemies out fighting, but that usually brings out groups of 2, 3 or 4 ships, and they're often things like Vipers and Cobras rather than Sidewinders and Eagles. So while I am still so bad at combat, I would rather wait for enemy interdictions. What this video DOES show is that the Freeport docking station is in VERY close orbit around it's planet, particularly close to it's rings (a rocky planet with rings?) and this can play havoc with the supercruise drive, as is shown clearly here. Instances where the supercruise drive plays up are quite rare and only happen in these circumstances, when the docking station is in close proximity with the planet it is orbiting.... or if the pilot is particularly hopeless! All in-game settings maxed and played at 2560x1440. Recorded at 30fps, 1080p HD with Nvidia ShadowPlay. Watch in 1080 HD for best quality! Key PC Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 4930K @4.3GHz w/ Corsair H80 Cooler MB: Asus X79 Deluxe RAM: 64GB Corsair Vengeance CL9 1600MHz DDR3 GPU: Dual SLI Zotac GeForce GTX 780 Amp!
