2014 Subaru Forester XT Test Drive & Crossover SUV Video Review

Most notable are the exterior enhancements that give this crossover SUV more rounded corners. This XT model comes packing a 250 horsepower turbocharged engine along with the standard Symmetrical AWD system. The base model Forester goes for $21,995 and the 2.0XT Premium (CVT) tested here starts at $27,995. The 2104 Subaru Forester has been remodeled from front to back, inside and out. The Forester has changed quite significantly over the past few years in an effort to address some of the shortcomings like: lack of opening space for the rear passengers, interior legroom, and mundane exterior. Subaru is very proud to introduce the first time (for this company) that a turbocharged engine and CVT transmission have been linked together. Subaru is a company of engineers and they are very proud of their world renowned Boxer engine. The advantage of a Boxer engine is that the cylinders are flat giving the vehicle a lower center of gravity which helps with handling. The engine is a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. The CVT trans helps the Forester to get better fuel economy at 23 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. The lower trim levels get the 2.5 liter naturally aspirated engines. If you are going to upgrade to a larger CUV then you should make sure the vehicle has adequate space. This Subaru Forester has a lot of space in the back. As far as driving dynamics are concerned; this crossover SUV does extremely well. The Forester handles on the corners and is very capable in mild off-road conditions and drives very nicely.
