Google Home New Updates and New Features for August 5, 2018

Google Home New Updates and New Features for August 5, 2018 The Google Home has all kinds of new updates and new features for this week in 2018, and I go through all of them here in my latest update video for the Google Home and Google Assistant. Of course, this great home automation product has a huge number of new features every week of 2018 as it continues along its torrid development path. The first big change this week is actually in relation to a product that hasn't even been released yet. That product is the Google Pixel 3, and it appears Google has released a very important piece of information. Essentially, your Google Pixel 3 is going to become a Google Smart Display with the Google Assistant on board. This means that one of the first launches of a Google Smart Display will be Google's own flagship phone, the Pixel 3. Speaking of Google Smart Displays, the Lenovo Smart Display with Google Assistant is the first to actually launch in the US. You can pre-order those Smart Displays today and you can get one of them in about 3-4 weeks. Of course, front and center on this is the Google Assistant, so it's like a #GoogleHome with a display. The 8" tablet is $199 US and the 10" is $249 US, which is not a bad price for either of these products. Next up is the fact that you can now schedule routines on your Google Home. Of course, this is only for those in the USA, but it's a great new feature and I can't wait to get Google Home routines and now the scheduled component of that feature. This is hard to explain in a written manner, but ultimately Google Home has learned which room it's in and to only affect the lights in the room it's in. Essentially, in the past if you'd asked Google Home to turn off the lights, you would have turned off all of the lights in your home. Now, with the latest update, you will only turn off lights in the same room as your Google Home. If you want to turn off everything, you'll need to ask your device to turn off "everything". The #GoogleAssistant is now fully available in Dutch! What's more, the Google Assistant has also begun speaking some Russian. Now, while the Dutch language is official and ready to go, the Russian language still needs some time yet. Either way, the Russians are coming! Philips Hue and Google Home have worked well together for a very long time. In fact, I've never seen two home automation products pair so well. In any case, Philips is in the midst of launching their Adore smart bathroom light series, which includes my favorite, a smart mirror. Of course, since it's a Philips Hue device, you can control it with your Google Home or Google Assistant. If you use Google Duo, you'll now be able to use it to start phone calls using your Google Assistant. No word on Google Home users just yet, but I'm betting the Smart Displays will be a game changer here. Now that the CEO of Nest has moved on, I think we're going to see a much better integration effort between Nest and Google in terms of their smart home automation products. I think especially when it comes to the Nest Thermostat and Nest CO/Smoke Detectors, we'll see Google Home begin to work even better together. The latest survey results are out and Google Assistant is still well in the lead when it comes to both understanding and responding to queries. In a Venture Beat study with 800 questions, Google Assistant understood every single question. It scored 100%, while it scored ~85% in terms of its responses. Surprisingly, Siri came in second. If you need any recommendations for home automation products, here's my Amazon Influencer Shop. Yes, I make money if you buy a product from Amazon through this link, but I've only included products I personally recommend. It's a curated list of high-quality smart home products. https://www.amazon.com/shop/automateyourlife Thanks for watching, and please subscribe below!
