Star Wars: Dark Forces (1995) Retrospective
Star Wars: Dark Forces is a FPS developed by Lucas Arts. Released in 1995 for Dos and Macintosh, Dark Forces was a success with fans and critics alike. The game stars Kyle Katarn, the man originally responsible for stealing the Death Star plans. It features many classic Star Wars characters like Darth Vader and Jabba The Hutt in a galaxy spanning hunt for the secretive Dark Trooper Project. Running on the then new Jedi engine, we see some nice improvements over the games that influenced it like Doom. For instance, the ability to look up and down in game, and for the developers to create multifloored layouts in the level design where some of the leaps this game made with the technology. This video is half review, half lets play as I go through the story, sharing my thoughts on each level and the story as it unfolds.
