HOW TO MAKE THE FEATHER SWIRL - Cold Process Soap
Always wear eye protection and gloves when handling lye and making cold process soap. Soap recipe, colorants and fragrance oil used are included in the video. I used 27% water as a percent of oil weight in this recipe. I've been wanting to try this variation of the Taiwan Swirl but could never find the right soap recipe and well behaved fragrance oil that keep the fluidity and trace needed for the clean crisp lines. I had a new fragrance oil from Brambleberry that I'd been excited to try and it worked perfectly and gave me a great inspiration for the color palette. If this is your first time trying the feather/Taiwan swirl I hope this helps and you find that the soap recipe works just as well for you. Let me know if the comments if you do give it a try or if you've made one in the past. I'm always open to feedback and improving my soap batches. I always CPOP my soaps to force gel phase.: First I preheat the oven to 170°F, then I turn the oven off, turn the oven light on, place the soap in the oven, close the oven door, and leave it in overnight. I also spray the surface of my soap with 99% alcohol to prevent./reduce soda ash after about 20 minutes in the oven after the soap has begun to set. Have a question or suggestion? Leave me a comment!
