My Car is a Rolls Royce

"To me my car s a Rolls Royce. Others may call it something else, but to me its a Rolls Royce. To me this is the centre of the earth..." My Car is a Rolls Royce is a subjective look at an industrial town clawing its way through a post-industrial era. The Black Country in the West Midlands has always been a highly industrious region and was one of the starting points for the industrial revolution. However, over the past twenty years industry has dwindled and with more and more people finding themselves in unemploymentit is a region that has struggled economically for some time. Growing up in this area and watching it decline has had a profound effect on the social psyche as people grasp fondly at the memories of the illustrious Black Country whilst always wonderng what the future will bring to it. Trying to move forward whilst looking backward, fighting to retain some semblance of identity, dereliction is the face of the real and its population are in a constant state of change. But as the old proverb tells us, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Photography - Chris Collins Poetry - Si Hayward Music - Aphex Twin - Nanou 2
