Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Soundtrack for the NES with Winamp Enhanced Plugin
I still like to listen to raw sequenced game music files with Winamp these days, and I tend to use a plugin to enhance them: https://codecpack.co/download/Enhancer.html Its kind of a barebones version of a commercial plugin from before that I wont name. I prefer the "aggressive" preset for NES music usually, with a couple tweaks like limiting the auto volume. So I decided to upload a game soundtrack using this preset. You may want to compare it to other "NES Stereo" youtube accounts. I wonder if other folks will find that this version sounds better? I also disable the low, high, and prepass filters for the NES music before feeding it through this DSP. I shy away from ambient noise and echo, and go for dynamic range, and I feel like the rest of the preset helps soften the harsh buzz of unfiltered NES music just fine. I dont know if I will make a habit or put any effort into uploading these. I will say I largely stick with these settings for Sega Genesis music, but I find that SNES music is a whole other realm that requires very different settings to make it pop. 12:39 is just one of these NES moments when you know its getting serious. That persistent bassy beat makes you focus harder than ever. Few NES games got the blood pumping like that stretch. Technodrome was serious business.
