After powering off the 9000ED, waiting at least 5 seconds (according to the instruction manual), I turn the scanner back on, allow time for the slow-blink LED to go steady, then attempt another insertion of the 35mm negative carrier. This attempt was successful and the unit goes through the typical motions of positioning/calibrating before scanning. My comments about this being "new" is only in reference in that since my first video showed a failure, I expected a repeat behavior. It has been rather hit or miss since I received the scanner a few days ago. I was eventually able to get up and scanning later after taking a number of videos and before I had to pack this unit back up to ship it for repair.
