From the Archives: Holiday Windows at Miller Brothers (1989)
Before the malls arrived in town.. Everyone went downtown to celebrate the holidays. We had department stores like Lovemans and Miller Brothers there. But the tradition of downtown decorations go back even further... As you can see in this photo from the Paul Heiner Collection at the Library. In fact.. The first lights in the city were decorations to inspire downtown shopping. Which leads us to our story from the News 12 Archives tonight. 25 years ago.. The department stores were gone. But there was a move to bring back the holiday window displays that they used to have.
